Since I haven’t noticed any threads for transfer students who’ve applied for regular decision for Fall 2016, I thought I’d make one.
I applied as a Junior transfer with a 3.6 GPA and will be graduating at my current institution with two AA degrees in Communication Studies and Social and Behavioral Sciences, though I hope to raise my GPA to a 3.7.
@kesprxt I don’t know my exact gpa…i think it may be around 3.55 due to bombing art school many moons ago. I have a 4.0 at the community college i last graduated from. What’s yours?
The fact that you have a 4.0 at the most recent school you attended should be a good thing. I currently have a 3.6 but I hope to raise it to a 3.7 by the time I graduate in the summer. @selfofsteam the wait is honestly killing me…
My kid applied RD transfer and turned it in 2 hours before the deadline on February 1st. We didn’t get a decision by March 15 as we were promised, so we called the admissions office and they said that they didn’t receive his transcript until mid february. This was very aggravating to me… Our college counselor called the admissions office about 3 weeks ago and apparently they said that we should have a decision within about a week, but now it is almost a month later and we still have nothing. Does anyone have any idea when we’ll get a decision?
Btw, I’m not 100% sure about this, but about 2 weeks ago I THINK the application status changed from ready for review to application under review. I’m not really sure if it said ready for review previously but when I read application under review, it wasn’t something that I had noticed before so I thought the status might have changed. Does anyone know if this means anything different or if it helps to give insight on when we’ll get a decision?
I was accepted on March 23rd into Communication Studies.
I found out through my MYPAW portal, and received an email and a letter a few days later. The commitment deadline is May 1st, has anyone else got accepted yet? I was wondering if I should commit now and pay the fee, or wait a few days. I think I have a 3.56 and I go to SMC, but went to a four year public university before that. I am a sophomore transfer ( I think), I will have 45ish units when I transfer. I have a lot of internships, and clubs that I participate in also. I was also accepted to Chapman’s Communication program, but I think I am going to go to LMU instead.
@ctehin This same situation happened to transfer students who applied for Fall 2014 (I believe) or it may have been Fall 2013. They were told they would receive a response by May 1st if they applied by March 15, but majority of those who had applied by the deadline did not receive a response until the end of May. You should get a response by now, or if not, then by the end of this month. If I can recall, the admissions office did mention that the delay was due to having a large pool of transfer applicants for that year. But I’m not sure why it’s taking them this long, since @cctransfer96 already received a response from LMU.
@cctransfer96 Congratulations! Chapman used to be my first-choice but I’m leaning more towards LMU since it’s closest to where I live. Is LMU your top choice? And that’s awesome. LMU values people who are involved in extracurricular activities.
@cctransfer96 I was accepted into communication studies as well! Did you do early action transfer? Because I did, and I think our commitment deposit is due on May 1st, because that’s what it said in the email. You could always call and ask them.
I’m actually still waiting for other universities… does anyone know if I could have them extend my commitment deposit date to June 1st? I applied to UCLA and USC also, but don’t hear back from them for a while, and I know their deposit deadline is June 1st…
Also, does anyone know how I would find out what my standing is at LMU before I give my commitment deposit? I am technically transferring as a sophomore, but could transfer as a junior because of all my AP credit… Does anyone know where I could find all that out?
I applied Regular Decision. @anxiousmac Really? Maybe we will be in the same classes! I haven’t turned in my commitment deposit in but I will in the next few days.
