Loan help?

Hello. I am new to this website, so if I posted this in the wrong thread I do apologize. I am currently a CC student, who is hopefully transferring this Fall. Schools I’ve applied to are Cal Poly Pomona, CSULB, CSUN, and Sacramento State. I applied for financial aid in February, filed my FAFSA. However the months are going by and I still don’t know how loans work. The CSU Mentor website has limited information. Obviously the aid I will receive will not cover the entire cost. What do I need to do and when? It’s still early, but I don’t want to miss any deadlines. Where do I have to go? How do I start?

Thank you.
Admitted at Sac State and CSUN, waitlisted for LB, still “Ready for Decision” at Pomona. (Why are they so late?! It’s April 8th!!!)

I would post on the financial aid thread but what kind if aid did you receive at your CCC? CSU mentor won’t give much financial aid info. You should go onto the Federal aid website for more info. If eligible, you could get Cal grants and Federal pell grants along with Stafford loans.

You should be receiving a financial aid package from your admitted schools. They will post your types of loans on your financial aid letter. Then, you have to choose to accept or decline the loans which may be subsidized or unsubsidized. https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/types/loans/subsidized-unsubsidized

If you attended a California CC then you should be hearing from the schools about the CalGrant. The application was due March 2nd, but if you missed that, then you could still contact them, if your FAFSA was in on time.

Remember that the Financial Aid letter comes from a different department than the admissions office, so you need to open your financial aid portals on each school’s web site, where you applied, to check for your packages.
