Loan help?

Hello. I am new to this website, so if I posted this in the wrong thread I do apologize. I am currently a CC student, who is hopefully transferring this Fall. Schools I’ve applied to are Cal Poly Pomona, CSULB, CSUN, and Sacramento State. I applied for financial aid in February, filed my FAFSA. However the months are going by and I still don’t know how loans work. The CSU Mentor website has limited information. Obviously the aid I will receive will not cover the entire cost. What do I need to do and when? It’s still early, but I don’t want to miss any deadlines. Where do I have to go? How do I start?

First, I’d write down specifically what questions you want to know. Make sure to write them down as I tend to forget one or two concerns after so much time waiting on hold.

Second, either call or show up to the financial aid office of the school you wish to attend. If you can’t find the contact info on their website just Google “school name” and financial aid office contact. They usually have financial aid advisors whose job it is to talk and walk you through these things.

I agree it can be daunting if you don’t know what you’re doing. Good luck.

Your FA pkg will come with loans. You’ll go online to your school’s portal and accept all aid, including grants, loans and work study.
