Hello my friends,

I am an itnernational student from Mexico with an F1 student visa. I've never had the necesssity to search for a loan until now. I need the loan to pay part of a summer internship placement program called Dream Careers. Could anyone please inform me if we are elegible for loans, and if we are:

-Which are the organizations/banks that provide loans for non-citizens like me? and which are the requirements.

I went to my local bank Regions, and they told me I need to be a permanent citizen in order to get a loan.

I've search a lot and can't found anything. I appreciate your time and help!

I do not know of any lender that will loan money to an F1 student without a US citizen or legal permanent resident as a co-signer. You need to go back to your college career center, and find out what they can do about the fee that this firm wants to charge you. Frankly, you should not have to pay one cent to be placed in a summer internship. Living expenses for the summer while you are interning, yes, but not a fee in order to get that internship in the first place. These people sound like crooks.

cruz: Run, corre, run from this “internship”! Usually, legitimate companies pay you to intern for them, or if you have a visa where you can’t get paid, then they don’t pay a stipend (money) but they give you good experiences and recommendations.

What to do?
What is your major? If you are a science major, you will find a number of internship opportunities in biotech companies, go on indeed and other career searches and type in intern. If you are a business major, go to the advising center at your college and have them help you find a legitimate internship.

Thanks for the information. Yes, what I meant it was which places provide loans for international students if I had a co-signer? and which are the requirements for me or the co-signer.

Aun bea: I am a marketing and management major… the name of the program is Dream Careers, look it up!! any suggestions where to get loans for non-citizens like me?? thanks!!!

Cruz, the banks don’t want to loan to non-citizens. It’s extremely difficult and any loans require an American citizen who is willing to be the credit worthy cosigner.
