wow, lol, i live in nj, thats so funny to hear.

Im wondering how people see Arizonans...

Do we even fit a stereotypical idea? Probably because we were the last mainland state to be established, so everyone migrated here, making it a pot o' sterotypes...
[/quote]

There are two stereotypes in Arizona (phoenix in particular):
1.public school, lower-class, large hispanic population mesa/glendale/etc
2.private school (BCP, PCDS, maybe Desert Vista), upper-class, country club. arcadia/scottsdale (think USC kids)

how dirty are new jersey girls?

californians hella look down on everyone else
northern californians say 'hella'
southern californians look down on northern californians because they have more hott people. and they do so legitimately..

but you know, we're only better than everyone else because our governor can kick your governor's ass. and if we were our own country, we would have the 11th best economy in the world.

but really, i stereotype the east coast as upper class white kids who wear popped collars and go sailing or shopping all day [everyone i know from the east coast has a yacht, a beamer, and something chanel]

and then i stereotype the south as people riding horses on their ranches [which would actually be pretty fun but ew dirty]

everything in the middle = native americans/ rednecks

Damn eugenia you are in desperate need of actually going into the real world. I know this is a stereotype thread, but none of those have any merit.

Everytime I tell relatives I live in So.Cal, they think I listen to the Beach Boys, surf all day, wear surf clothes, and talk all "gnarly".

Absolutely H I L A R I O U S !

California - Think they are better than everyone else. Oblivious to the rest of the world. Everyone is really chill and everyone says "like" in every sentence. And SoCal thinks they are way better than NorCal.

Oregon/Washington - Everyone is homely and pale.

Northeast - Everyone is always in a hurry and extremeley rude. And NY people are b*tches, and Jersey people talk like they're retarted.

MidWest - Everyone lives on a farm. Their cities don't have street lights and everyone is an alcoholic since drinking is the only thing to do.

The South - Everyone is a racist hick. Everyone is really stupid and backwards. And there is a lot of inbreds.

Miami/South Florida - The exception to the South.

euginia, actually you got it backwards. People in the South are more redneckish than those in the midwest.

actually i tend to think that entire country is made up of only the northeast, florida, and cali and that the rest is just made up of mostly country hicks with a few exceptions.

I'm from Northern Virginia, and although it's only really the mid-Atlantic that knows this stereotype, its so widespread. Basically if you go to any Virginia school and say you're from NoVa, you get the classic: "Oh, you must've graduated high school with a 4.9, drive a Beamer, and are paying for college with daddy's gov't pension, while your million dollar house goes up $200K a year in value".

Lies. I graduated with a 3.6, which was on the upper end of my HS, I drive a '98 Jetta, I have loans, and my house is only worth $400K, its the damn land it sits on that they rape you in taxes with, that's so expensive.

Thats because anything outside of NOVA = doesn't matter. ;)
Let them be jealous.

Oh wait I forgot to add, if they are from the midwest or the south, they always look like they're about to say something stupid.

LOL that's kinda true.

wow. never imagined america to be so different from region to region.

i disagree with statements concerning californians. many come from, not just other parts of usa, but from other countries. we're not in 1950's or whatever decade it was in which pleasantville suburban utopia was the norm.

another thing: southwest used to be spanish then mexican territory. the hispanic legacy is still very strong in california.

as for the east coast, i have no idea what people are like because frankly i realy don't give a damn about them.

latin americans may seem lazy, but they are more deligent than whites. most of the homeless in east la are whites and some blacks and indians.

the french are not inherently mean. if u just took the time to learn the language and speak it correctly, and not like a complete retard, they treat u like a human. come on. french is like deuxieme lingua franca for culture, econ. etc. in europe.

yes, japs are racists. they don't highly regard blacks and think indians are brainy.

Cmon guys. Really the south is not that bad. We are not all republican fundamentalists. I'm actually an athiest democrat from Arkansas.

thank you astrife! I'm an agnostic moderate-lefty from Alabama. Go us for breaking stereotypes! But seriously, I know alot of people are who liberal or at least moderate.

actually the french just want you to make an effort and not be a self-centered american.

indians aren't always brainy. in fact, most of them aren't, but a lot of the ones in the US are. just like a lot of [legal] immigrants -- if they can actually make it here legally, they probably have something good to share with the rest of society.

and latin americans aren't always diligent. crap, my maid is the laziest person on earth!

aand finally for everyone who was freaking out about me stereotyping, i know my stereotypes are probably off and not based on anything. that's kinda the point of a stereotype.

My friend told me that U of Arksansas is pretty liberal, but I don't believe him.

no the University of Arkansas really isn't that liberal. However my school, Hendrix College, a small LAC in Arkansas is VERY liberal.

Welllllllll... being from Colorado sort of puts me in the "middle," but honestly, I'm happy we get lost in the suffle because then fewer people know what an amazing place this is. Honestly, everyone NOT from Colorado sucks. Except maybe people from Oregon. ;)

Kidding. But that's how most Coloradians feel, at least as far as I can tell.
People in the Northwest are like "comrades"--they are all social liberals that want to protect the environment, and we like that. California is full of fake, stuck up, whiny kids who spend all day at the beach and buying too-expensive clothing. Most states in the west are passable, except for Idaho which probably shouldn't be a state. Oh, and Wyoming probably shouldn't exist anyway. Colorado could eat it and there would barely be a blip in population. Everyone from the South, most importantly people from Texas, are backwards, conservative, Christian fundamentalist rednecks. Everyone in Florida is old. The midwest is pretty much worthless--all farms and suburbia. One of the biggest insults where I'm from is that a place is "flat." AKA No mountains, therefore absolutely zero possible coolness. When I told people I was visiting colleges in the Midwest, I got a lot of wrinkled noses and "but it's so... flat." Anyone on the East Coast (and no, there is no destinction between "New England" versus "Mid Atlantic" versus "Southern" unless we're memorizing which colonies grew tobacco) is snotty, unfriendly, always rushing around, dumping trash on things, spending too much money on everything, and being uber competetive. You should've heard what some people had to say when I applied to a few schools "back East." Even my parents were protesting because of all of the "unfriendly Eastern prep school kids."

=)

Isn't hating people for no reason fun?

Haha, well said megan!
