Does Cornell allow you to use a LOFT bed and if so how tall are ceilings in JAmeson

Yes you can loft your bed. Apparently you can loft it pretty high. No word on how high the ceilings are in Jameson Hall.

You're certainly allowed to loft, as high as you want.

Idk how high the cielings are in jameson, but where I'm living next year (Becker floor 1) they're about 25 feet!! I could stack beds four high!

what are the good things about lofting a bed?

More space.

Where do you get what you need to loft the bed?

You can submit a work request at housing.cornell.edu and the maintenance guys will come in and do it for you.

Do they have materials there to loft them that HIGH? I was looking at kits at OP Loftbed.com...........was thinking if you lofted the bed you could bring a couch to sit on (for reading)

Can we order it done before we get to school or do we need to wait until we're moved in?

I like having my bed on the ground, but if you really want to loft it its not that hard.

glkecon, if it can be done, the housing people will know how. I really doubt you'll find a situation where they'll say "nah, we can't do that, but if you go out and buy a kit you can do it yourself."

dlm, I didn't do it until I moved in, but I can't remember why not. I had to be there while he did it, though. the information is probably there at the housing site.

nekkensj.......How high up was the loft housing provided you?

mine was like two feet. townhouse beds are structured differently than other ones. it still gave me a bunch of storage space under the bed though.

I've seen lofts in balch and other places going probably eight feet up though.

the loft can make your bed as high asd a bunk bed, so yes, you can put a couch under it
