I'm in Randolph, and I originally planned on lofting for more space. I'm not sure I'd be able to fit all my clothes in the room otherwise (haha that sounds terrible, I really don't think I'm overpacking though! afterall, I'm living there for an entire year...). So I made a list of pros and cons, but still can't figure out if I'd like to loft.
Pros: More space-> more room for extra drawers, or butterfly chair, or wtvr
Cons: Would have to climb up every night and every morning. Lofts are ugly. Less homey/inviting with a loft?

The cons list is longer, but the pro is a major pro! What do you all think? Especially those who have had experience with lofting in the past. Would you have made the same choice to loft, in retrospect? Thanks!

I lofted in Jarvis with a huge room, and I must say I absolutely loved it.

Climbing up and down every night kind- It kind of sucked, but you really get used to it and sometimes it's kind of fun to be up there.

Ugly- You can make them cute. I had pictures of my friends ALL over mine, and I knew people who even painted theirs and stuff. You can make them cute...I swear!

Less homey- It depends. My roommate and I both felt having a loft added a new dimension to our room. Instead of just having these tall walls we had a lofted bed, so it just cozied things up and was different.

I really enjoyed it. It will be nice to not having to climb into bed this year, but I really wouldn't have it any other way. I was able to fit a cute chair into my room, and I think it really just changed the look of our room. I'd definitely do it again...I'm really glad I made the decision to.

Rooms in Blackwell/Randolph are actually made for lofting - the ceilings are especially high, and the rooms are tiny. Also, ITA with loveduke - it's annoying at first, and I'm definitely glad to NOT have to loft this year, but you really stop noticing it. As long as you put a couple of chairs in the room, you'll just use your bed for sleeping - not hanging out on. My roommate and I managed to make our lofts artsy with paint and string lights, and although I won't miss the climb, I'm actually sort of sad that I won't have that this year to decorate. It was a really convenient place to hang lights off of and use to make the room pretty.

Also, yeah, tons more space. Always a plus.
