<p>it seems to be the trend that most people are switching from lol to haha in online speak. especially on facebook. why is this? is 'lol' becoming the trashier/outdated way of expressing amusement?</p>

<p>I use them both for different things. Some things are "haha" funny are some things are "lol" funny and some things are "heh" funny. I like the diversity.</p>

<p>its because less people are actually laughing out loud. more are just chortling to themselves, hence, "haha". Its a sad day when people can't laugh out loud ne more.</p>

<p>also, sometimes i type "lol" when i want to lighten something up that i say on the web, that may come off as awkward in person, or uncomfortable with people i would talk to face to face...</p>
