Have you guys realized how lol doesn't mean a LAUGHING OUT LOUD type thing any more. It seems to have evolved into a more subtle ha, like lol thats clever. Whenever something is truely funny, a hahahaha seems more appropriate than a simple lol. And no, a lololololol doesnt replace a hahaha. Doesn't seem to have the same effect. Lol why did I just write this? Ah well, thoughts?

lol bored much? lol

lol yeah. I have to write a Great Gatsby essay and… Procrastinating?

lol very clever

lol= laughing out loud, smooth a harsh message if you put lol at end, make a person feel better about their joke

lol=singular
lulz=plural form of lol

lololololol=is grammatically not accurate.
lolz=is grammatically not accurate

^when would u ever need a plural form of lol? ugh, i hate ‘lulz’. sometimes i do use ‘lols’ or ‘lolz’, though :] & i never do the lololol thing :/

lol like lol it’s like wow like lol omg right?

there has been a notable emergence of BAHAHAHAHA as well…

^oh, true! i like the bahaha. i sometimes replace hahaha with that :D

lol bahahaha seems more sudden than hahahah. Like it’s building up then you let it out…? alsfoiasenfo awief wow lol

Lulz is mostly used as in “did it for teh lulz.” Check out Enyclop

It’s like a modern-day preamble, that’s only three-letters long. Shows how lazy we are.
Well, usually I notice that people write “lol” before they say something else…
Or right afterwards…lol.

Don’t forget the new one: LAWL

I started using lqtm meaning Laughing Quietly To Myself (which is what lol really means as human do not tend to laugh very much when they are not sharing an experience with others). But it’s inability to be said as a word meant that it could never catch on.

I think the true, original meaning of LOL can be retained when it’s in all caps.

LOL and lol… see the difference?

lol <10 char>

lol; wht does lawl mean? lol

lawl is just lol in like a dif way. A way to mix it up. and yeah. LOL and lol have dif effects ; )

btw check out this 10char fail (below)

^ lol

haha, “lol” is just a filler word essentially. Like, when I don’t have any response to avoid some sort of online awkwardness. Or mild amusement.

In terms of the different variations on the term “lol” I use a lot of them interchangeably, because using the same word consistently feels bad. You don’t want to seem redundant. So I will use lol, lolz, lul, and lulz when I get bored of the other.

I haven’t used “lawl” really. idk, I don’t have penchant for typing as the word as I pronounce it.

For genuine laughter I’ll usually say, “that made me lol irl” or something similar.

LOL or ahahahha or bahahahah or hahahhaahaha or bwahahahah for being genuinely amused.

lolololololol is like *** okay that was kind of lame.

and I’ve used lqtm (Demetri Martin right?), on occasion, but it’s too obscure of an acronym, and typically utilized by those pretentious people who want to show off their skillz.

Lol wow, that was a lot to say about the simple lol.
