Long Distance Commuters during Finals Week

Hey all

Wanted to see if there are any other long distance commuters out there, and how you guys were coping during finals week? By "Long Distance" I mean having a travel time of 40+ minutes to campus.

After living at school for the past 2 years, I can honestly say that commuters are at a disadvantage when it comes to finals. Just simple things like attending a professor's office hours, or meeting with a study group are difficult to plan out when you have so many factors in the way (car traffic, train schedules, etc etc).

Where do you guys study? For some odd reason I can't study in my childhood room, so I've been going to a local university and using their library. It's a state school, so the library is open to the public. Plus it's good to go to a quiet place where your surrounded by fellow college students prepping for exams.

Definitely looking to get back on campus next year. Commuting is rough, especially when it involves driving on the highway at high speeds every morning, and navigating NY traffic. Gained a lot of respect for commuters this past year, certainly not easy.

Our daughter has her graduation in a few weeks in a city where parking and traffic are problems and it’s on a weekday and it’s 40 minutes away. I’m thinking of getting a hotel room in the city so that I don’t have to deal with traffic and parking and getting up really early in the morning. One could apply that to final exams too on the assumption that the savings in commuting could be used for the hotel expenses.
