Just got the call for my alumni interview, anyone else going to Jericho High school on Sunday morning??

Hey ! me too.I actually go to Jericho High School....which school are u from ?

Massapequa High School. 4 people from my grade are applying ED to Cornell.

are u gonna prepare for it ? Its supposed be "informal" but it could maybe hurt or help my chances....and do u know what colleges at cornell the people from ur school are applying to? i think 4-6 people from my school are applying there...

its informal and does not help or hurt chances so there is no need to prepare. im applying to ILR, 2 are applying to HE, and 1 to Ag (i think)

Do we have to go?

If you were contacted, I would recommend that you go.

i went today and i felt that it was a worthwhile experience. i would recommend going.

Isn't Jericho High School like the best high school on LI? I have cousins who live out in Muttontown, they go there.

That's only based upon a ranking system that bases school performance by the number of AP classes per student. Jericho has no requirements for being in an AP class, so their enrollment is inflated.

regardless Jericho is one of the best schools on LI. (unbias, i dont go there)

I was contacted (Twice actually, and I said I'd think about it both times), but I don't think it would be that useful for me since I'm already bound to Cornell if I get in so it's not like my interviewer needs to convince me to come. Also, I don't have many questions now but if I get in, then I'll probably have much more questions to ask.

Would it be alright if I called him up and asked him if we could have the interview after December 15 if I get accepted or deffered? Oh, and I'm applying to College of Engineering.

trust me , ur interview can help ur chances. and they do report it to the admissions dept after the interview. The person who took my interview or "information session" actually took notes. He also told me that my interview would help me since he was going to put in a "good word" for me at the admissions dept.....i hope he actually did.

and Jericho is not that different from any other high school in LI. I think it only ruins ur chances at good schools since every kid has above a 3.8 gpa and is applying to the top schools.....there is soo much more competition

Battlecruiser, if Cornell has requested to have an interview with you (twice!), I would seriously consider taking their offer. In reality, interviews aren't meant to encourage you to apply; rather how well your interview goes (or how the interviewer thinks of you as an applicant) will play a role in your application file.

I don't understand why you wouldn't do an interview if you were requested by Cornell for one. Regardless of how much it is weighted, if they want an interview, do the interview.

Alright, I'll call tomorrow and tell him I'm doing it. Guess I was just being lazy.

^That's what your interviewer probably thinks as well.

Unfortnately, though I'm inclined to agree with norcalguy, it's still not too late; best of luck with your interviews.
