Looking for a good public school in DC metro,or Balt, annapolis

There is a good possibility that we may move to DC metro(NoVa or MD) or the Balt, Annapolis area in 2009 and we were trying to find a good public school that is a good Football school as well. Any suggestions. Oldest is in the process of USNA and NROTC apps (got into NASS 2007) and the Middle kid is also interested in USNA and NROTC as well. We have a good school here and that has success in getting kids into the service academies and A/N/ROTC, however we may be moving due to work in 2009.

The McLean, VA area is known for having great schools. Be aware, however, that the property values there are NUTS.

I'm from (Fairfax High) Fairfax County--and Fairfax County Public Schools are pretty great. Most, if not all, of the high schools are ranked Nationally in the Top 100 or so.

Athletically---They split the "Northern Region" up into Districts, like most other school systems probably do. There's 4 districts (Concorde, Liberty, Patriot, and National) they all have about 8 schools each. In my opinion, and this may be biased, but the Concorde District is the most competitive (biased b/c this is my district) in the past 3 years, 3 out of the 7 schools in my district have played in the State Tournament AAA football game (Westfield, Robinson, Oakton & Chantilly)--i believe 2 of them even won.

Out of those four, Robinson and Westfield are the biggest schools--over 4,000 at either. side note-Robinson is also a secondary school//middle&high.

They're all in a great location too--just outside of D.C. you can drive 30 minutes in either direction and get farmland and rivers, and then the city!

As for NROTC--Herndon High is the only school I'm aware of the has a NJROTC unit....however Chantilly has an JAFROTC. There's sea cadet units in the area, as well as civil air patrol (--kind of a drive out there).

And also as for the success rate of these schools getting kids into the academies...I don't know any exact numbers, but there are definitely a good population of Northern Virginians at all the academies! My school personally--1 to USNA [1 on the wait list], we're the only 2 people that applied. 2-west point [1 accepted, 1 chose another school], 1-USAFA [but isn't going].

As far as I'm aware the 4 people that applied to the academies either got in, with the 1 exception of the wait lister. At Robinson I know of 2 people going to West Point and 1 to USMMA, I think there's 1 or 2 going to USNA from there but not sure.

So yeah, there's my opinion! any other school-specific questions just let me know!
