Looking for a safety school

Hey everyone can you help me find a safety/low-match school please!

Things I'm looking for:

1) Application deadline that has still not passed (of course, I know I'm a bit late but whatever...)

2) A real university (that is, not a small college only)

3) In a big city (think NYC, LA, Chicago, etc)

And it'll be even better if I don't have to write more essays - I've already written a few for my other schools, and I'd like to reuse them or alter them very slightly.

Thanks.

K.

Without knowing your statistics, there's no way to determine whether a school is a reach, match or safety. What's a safety for one may be a reach for another.

Well I consider myself a pretty good applicant.

SAT1: 2170
SAT2: 2270 (3 SAT2s added together)

I'm an international applicant, if that counts. And oh yeah, I applied to Chicago, Columbia already and I will apply to NYU.

I think NYU is sort of a match (low match perhaps) for me.

So I'm looking for some safeties/high-safeties (if those exist lol) in accordance with the above.

Thx.

What are your main academic interests? Then we could give better recommendations.

Drew University in Madison NJ might be a safety--there is a nearby commuter rail with access to NYC in about half an hour.

Rutgers University--also in NJ not far from NYC.

Fordham Universtiy? or Hofstra University on Long Island--easy commute to NYC.

Boston University, Clark University (possibly Brandeis U as a match) in Boston area

In Washington DC area --American University..

GPA? Any AP or IB courses? Rank? Do you need financial aid (which can make a big difference for internationals)?

Drexel University
George Washington University (More of a safe match)
Northeastern University
Temple University
University of Pittsburgh

Large research universities of the rust belt. They're very different, so, depending on what you want to study...

Thanks a lot guys for teh recommendations. I'm looking at now especially Rutgers, Boston U, and George Washington.

Btw I'm looking to major in Philosophy+Economics. And I'm doing teh full IB diploma, and I would say I'm in the top decile in my class (but no offical rankings). Also, I DO NOT require fin. aid.

Are the above good safeties for me? And also, will I be able to get in my app in time?!

Thanks

Raghav K.

PS. if anyone knows any more universities for me which have rolling admissions, please do inform me.

If you're willing to look in Canada, McGill in Montreal would meet your requirements and the deadline is 1/15.

Also, you could take a look at University of Miami (deadline is Feb. 1)

midatlmom: thanks for your reply.

I cannot go to Canada, but thanks for the pointer to UMiami.

I think Clark or Drew would be absolute safeties but your chances at Rutgers and BU would be pretty good too.
