I am 2nd year college student attending a Penn State Branch Campus.

Im interested in a future career in investment banking/banking/finance.

I got accepted into Penn State's University Park Campus for Management but I really need to major in Finance. However, I dont have the required 3.5 GPA.

I have started applying to other schools. What should i do?

Should I Go to PSU Main Campus and double major in Management & Economics.

or transfer to one of these following schools and major specifically in Finance?

You don’t need to major in finance to get a job in I banking.

I don’t think anyone could tell you what to do…you need to decide that. Newly minted graduates that are stepping into I banking are the ones that had good internships during college. It seems to me that if you are able to get those you are preparing yourself for a job post graduation. I would say this is more important than the exact major you choose but I would get other opinions from recent grads or those in I banking. I am going by what I have seen with my kids and their friends. The other important thing is to network, network and network. The people you meet now will be the people you will contact when you are a graduate. Learn about your alumni and try to make some connections.

So in your opinion, it would be ok if i double Major in Management (Penn State Smeal Degree) & Economics (Liberal Arts) to get a job in the Finance sector (IB) IF i get a great internship and network?

It appears to me that networking and gaining access to internships seem to be the difference in who breaks into I Banking. You want to get internships as early as possible in your academic career.
