Looking for an Honest Man/Woman to CHANCE ME

Thank you for glancing at this thread, all help is greatly appreciated. Georgetown has been the school I always wanted to go to. But I've convinced myself to wait until Grad School since I don't think I can get in undergrad. I want to know your opinion if I can get in undergrad.

I am a white, female from the state of NY

SAT Score: 1400
Math:680
Critical Reading:720

I attended Brooklyn Technical High School, a specialized high school in NYC with a notoriously hard workload.

My Junior Year GPA is a 101 or a 4.1 (weighted) and my overall high school GPA is a 94 or a 3.8 (weighted)
There was a huge amount of improvement junior year as you can tell XD

I took 6 AP Courses in high school
AP Literature (senior year), AP Government (senior year), AP US History (5), AP World History (5), AP Human Geography (5) and AP Chemistry (1)

I took the US History SAT 2 and got a 790 and am planning on taking Math 1 (hopefully gonna score somewhere in the 780-800 range) and Literature (hopefully score somewhere in the 740+).

I starred in my high school theater production all 4 years and directed for 1 year.
I also have 300 hours of community service from a theater group that uses theater to spread awareness about domestic abuse.
I had summer jobs for 2 summers, one was doing clerical work for a theater, the other was clerical work for a law firm.

Do I have a chance at regular admissions or should I apply ED?

Please help me, even if the answer is NO I want to hear it.

ECs are a bit lacking but honestly you’re where everyone else is in regards to standardized scores and grades. You don’t necessarily stand out but it never hurts to try so I’d recommend applying. Never know what can happen! Best of luck to you.

Your stats are such that it is definitely worth applying. You will be a competitive applicant. Your EC’s don’t do a lot for you unfortunately(my EC’s aren’t amazing either). A ton of applicants do theater to the point where its worth on your application is devalued to a certain degree. I’m not trying to trivialize it, but the adcoms probably won’t be incredibly impressed by it.
Also Georgetown doesn’t have ED, it has EA(I think).

Also the SAT ii Lit exam is fairly hard. 2 of my friends who are smarter than me (one is going to Harvard, one to UC Berkeley) both got low scores and they were strong in reading/writing. I think one got 590, and the other 660. I’m very strong in reading/writing and I got a 720. Just a heads up, it is not a cake walk.

I think objectively you definitely do. But unless your essays make you seem incredibly passionate about theater your ECs will still be a little bit weaker. But I would apply if I were you.
Please chance back!

I think you have a great chance to get into Georgetown unless you screw up your essays. Try a bit more in the diversity of your ECs in order to explore more about your interests. But since your academics performance is pretty good, I do think you should EA!!(lol, Georgetown does not have ED)

I’ve got to agree with everyone here so far - average academics/EC’s for GT. You’ve got to study for the Literature subject test - it’s very hard! I hope I don’t sound too negative, since you’re still a strong candidate and should definitely apply (GT only offers Early Action, not Early Decision). Good luck!

Honestly, I thought the SAT II Literature Subject Test was the easiest one I took. I got a 760 and didn’t do any outside preparation because my practice for the SAT and the reading passages were all the help I needed. Granted I read a lot so if you feel you are good in reading, grammar, and drawing conclusions from short passages in a short amount of time you should be fine. I would just recommend a little practice and you’re good to go.

Yea you are right. I am studying my butt off for that test because the harder the test is, the more a high grade is worth.
