So far I have found SCAD, Art Center College of Design, and California College of the Arts. I really want to be on the west coast, so far SCAD is my only exception. Another requirement is a fairly low tuition.. (nothing in the 55-60,000 range).

Do you have any suggestions for schools on the west coast? Thanks

Art Center College of Design, which you mentioned, is wonderful for art. I don’t know that they have an architecture branch (though I could be wrong).

Cal Poly SLO has a very highly ranked program for architecture. Cal Poly Pomona has a good one as well but the campus is nowhere near as beautiful as SLO or Art Center CofD

Southern California Institute of Architecture
California Polytechnic State Univ., San Luis Obispo
University of Oregon
University of Southern California

thanks a lot everyone, gave me lots of ideas :). I’m not sure whether or not I want to go in for architecture or some other art related major at this point which is why I’m applying to both.

What do you want to study. Architecture or art? And by art do you mean studio art, design, graphic art, illustration,… (the list goes on). Most really good art schools are going to require a portfolio and a certain amount of focus. ESPECIALLY Cal Arts or ACCD. And they are both very expensive.
take a look at the visual arts and architecture sub forums

I am currently debating between architecture and industrial or entertainment design. I have not yet decided which is why I am currently keeping my options open.

You will more than likely have to decide before hand, since high caliber program admissions in arts or architecture are specific to your major. You could reapply into a program, but you would be starting all over again.
