out west

are there any top programs along the west coast. Im really interested in Stanford but im not unsure how their architecture is.

Check out USC, U of Oregon, Cal Poly SLO, and possible Cal-Berkley. My son’s choice is between Syracuse and USC. It looks like USC for him (we are in the Chicago area).

chubb, you do know that Stanford doesn’t offer the Bachelors of Architecture? You would get a great liberal arts education, but you’d still need to get a Masters of Architecture in order to become an architect.

U of Oregon, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, USC, Sci-Arc and Newschool of Architecture offer a B.Arch.

UC Berkeley and UCLA offer M.Arch but not B.Arch

im pretty much set on getting into this career but i wanna make sure i get the best education possible. Where would you recomend me go to get the most out of my time

All of the schools menioned above will give you a great education. You will have to decide if you want to go the BArch or the 4+2 route.

USC has the BArch and the BS Arch Studies and you don’t choose your path until the 2nd year or after (I can’t remember exactly) 'cause the first 4 semesters are the same for both pathways.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is ranked the third best undergraduate program in the nation by Design Intelligence.

Bachelor of Architecture ranking:

Cornell University

Virginia Polytechnic Institute

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo

Rhode Island School of Design

Syracuse University

University of Texas at Austin

Carnegie Mellon University

Rice University

Boston Architectural College

Wow, a lot of “moms” in the architecture forum.

From the top of my head:
