Looking for cheaper, but nice lodging

Hello,

I'm taking my D up for an overnight orientation the beginning of April and I'm looking for lodging as close to WP as I can get. When we were up over the summer, I noticed some smaller, non-chain motels that looked nice on the main road to WP. Cost is an issue, but I want someplace clean and safe.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Go to www.usma.edu On the left side of the web page is a link for traveling to West Point. Click it..on the next page you will see a lodging link. This will bring you to a page listing hotels/motels in the area. Good luck.

You might try the Holiday Inn Express in Fort Montgomery. It's clean, cheap and close to West Point.

There is also an Econo Lodge in Highland Falls. I haven't stayed there myself yet but I have reservations for next August. I asked for feedback on this hotel over on the "service academy parents" forum. The comments were positive, basically the place is nothing fancy but it is clean - which is all I care about.

WE stayed at the Peekskill Inn for R-Day... across the Bear Mtn Bridge but only 10 miles away--slightly curvey road... maybe 15 minutes to Thayer gate...

I like it, decent little restaurant, nice hudson view... definitely not fancy, but clean
