Visits to West Point

Here's the link to the College Visits board on College Confidential. There are only 3 people who have described their visits. Perhaps some of the future cadets can take a couple minutes to help next year's group of applicants. And parents can chime in, also. For so many applicants, any information at all is valuable. If you've received help from this site, it's an opportunity to give back just a bit.

Thank you.

Would never have found that thread ... thanks for the heads-up. I couldn't figure out how to rate whether the reviews were helpful, but they definitely were, and much applause to you for publicizing the link. I hope your message here encourages others to post their impressions. (I must say I am so impressed with how helpful everyone on this site is).

Thanks for the link.

I just posted a report on our recent visit.

nynydad,

Thanks for the report!! I've stayed at a few places that I like. The Marriott in Newburgh is clean, reasonably priced (except for the big WP dates) and the staff is very customer-service oriented. I could never get a reservation, but know that lots of people like the Holiday Inn that is just a couple miles away. A fabulous B&B is the Cromwell Manor in Cornwall.

There are actually some wonderful restaurants in the Cornwall area. I like the Park better than Schades. But my favorite Highland Falls places are Susie's (?) the hot dog place. It's really great, everything is home made and I'm a sucker for anyplace that has sweet potato fries. Also, there's a barbecue place just opened last summer by one of the TAC's. It's between Schade's and Thayer Gate across from McDonald's. Also, keep in mind once you have a cadet, they can have Sunday brunch for 1/2 price at the Thayer if they're in uniform. Does anyone know if this applies to other meals during the week?
