Hey All,

I've been admitted to UNC for fall of 2012 as a transfer student.

I'm looking for some good apartments that aren't too expensive.

I'll be living alone, so a one bedroom would work best.

Also a garage is a must!

Has anyone heard or visited the "The Pointe at Chapel Hill", "Alta Springs", or "Governors Village"?

I'm looking into those.

Thanks!

What’s your budget? How important is location to you? Do you want to be surrounded by other students? How do you feel about cockroaches?

Do you need a garage or just a parking space? Stratford Hills on Bolinwood dr. is pretty nice for a decent price.

I really want a garage. And I’d like to be in a quiet area so I can focus on studies. Budget wise, less than $1000 per month.

$1000 per month will get you something really nice for a 1br in this area.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been noticing. Also I’m not 21 yet and I know that some apartments won’t lease to me due to this. So that’s another attribute to my search criteria.

I’m also a transfer student (junior) looking for housing. I’ll post back here if I find anything good.

Have you considered living on campus?

By the way, not sure if you can answer this…but, is it possible for me to live on campus in a private room (no roommates)?

You can try to live in Rams or Odum Village on campus if there are spots left. I believe that they do put a lot of transfers seeking on campus housing in Odum Village. You have your own room and there’s a kitchen and living area. Rams is much better than Odum, but I doubt there are any spots left. Odum isn’t super nice, but it’s your best option for having your own room on campus.

I had heard from housing that there were singles available on south campus. There was at that time a 15 person waitlist for singles on north campus.

If you get a single on south campus you will be surrounded by freshmen. I can’t imagine you want that as an incoming transfer looking for an apartment.

@NewYawk - By singles do you mean apartments for just one person? Or is it like an apartment with 4 rooms (for example) and each person gets their own bedroom, but they share a common area (kitchen, living room, etc)?

Not apartment. A single dorm room in a residence hall. Rams and Odum are the apartments. You can go on the UNC housing website and they have descriptions, pricing, pics, etc of all the various housing options. There is also a Facebook page for UNC housing.
