Looking for McCombs Friends

Hi, I am going to start my study at McCombs this fall. I will move to Austin at the end of this month. It's going to be all new to me and I do not have any friends in Austin. I am looking for someone who is also going to the business school so that we could hang out and make friends.

Thank you

I think there is a McCombs class page on Facebook, if not just post in the general UT one. People are SUPER friendly :)

Thanks . I go check it out.

:) I go to Mccombs. If you need help or anything, you can message me.

I am in McCombs too. If you need anything, feel free to message me.

moochi and erinlees, thank you.
Right now, I am both excited and nervous. lol.
I guess you have declared your major already? and what is it?

I am a rising sophomore, but I have not declared my major yet. I’m not exactly sure what it will be yet… haha. I will for sure my double-majoring at least, with BHP and either Marketing or MIS. Are you living on campus? If so, just try to make friends with the people on your floor. This will help you feel much more comfortable at such a big school!

erinlees,I am not living on campus, because I have a big family to bring with me to Austin. I am married and have two hairy babies.

I am thinking about double-majoring as well, but I have no idea how difficult it will be to double-majoring in two different schools, accounting and math.

You are such a sweetheart. You are already in UT and still you come here to give us support and advises.

McCombs here as well. Don’t hesitate to message me if you need any advice :)

McCombs people are so friendly.
Are you guys in some students organizations? any recommendation for an accounting major?

^^ UAA (university accounting assocation) is a great start for freshman

I am double majoring in Finance and Chinese! ^^ As far as school organizations, not to sure, so far I have tended to stick to my Chinese major groups.

moochi, Chinese is my native language. lol

I just got back from a study abroad in Beijing I did for the spring semester. Chinese is hard. Fun though.

你好, 同学! wow, you can even type in Chinese! you are really good. I know it is hard to learn. I know most people who learn Chinese usually only learn how to pronounce it and how to write it in Chinese Pinyin. So you write in Chinese as well? and how do you like it in Beijing?

The Chinese major at UT teaches characters, pinyin, speaking, listening, and translation. So I know quite a bit! Beijing was cool! Bad pollution though. :(

Pollution is bad not only in Bejing but in almost every part of China. It is a price China is paying for “made in China”.

Hi there NOCHICKY, welcome to Austin. Are you here yet? How old are your “hairy” kids? I’m a McCombs mom and I would be happy to come get y’all and show you the town and bring you out to our home on Lake Travis in northwest Austin. I have lots of fun stuff for kids to do…like a water slide, pool, ping pong, basketball court, etc.

P.S. When I referred to myself as a “McCombs Mom” I should have been more specific…I’m the mom of a McCombs student, not a McCombs student who’s also a mom. But I do have a little hairy kid (future Longhorn) at home as well:)

Hi windowbob, your home sounds like a really fun place and it is so nice of you for inviting us. However I don’t think it is a good idea to take my babies to your beautiful home, since they are so hairy they are called puppies. LOL…They’re 3years old and 2 years old.

I would love to meet you and I love to play ping pong. I am moving to Austin this weekend. After I settle down we can hang out. I know it is going to be tons of fun. I am so excited. I can’t wait even though it is only a few days away. Woohooooo, Austin, I am coming.
