My daughter was accepted to Newhouse for broadcast journalism and we are wondering if it is worth the cost. She received 6K Dean’s scholarship and we are responsible for the remaining 50+k. Paying would be feasible with some sacrifices, but should we?? Elon, Penn State (in state), and Ohio U are her other (much more affordable) options. All have great programs. Journalism majors are not known to land lucrative jobs right out of college so we want to make sure the cost is justified.
Any input from your experiences with Newhouse & careers after would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Although Newhouse has an outstanding reputation, we have been told by folks in the business that the internships and connections you make while doing the internships are more important than the actual school you graduate from.

As a Newhouse student, I believe that it is worth the cost. The experience I got in my first year alone is outstanding. You learn so much and there are so many amazing resources. The professors are great and most of them have worked/are working in the field they are teaching so they know it all. Additionally, you make so many connections and with those you get great internships. There are also study abroad programs where you specifically do internships.
