Looking for Non-Art Schools, Focusing on Digital Design/New Media

Hi all,

I'm a junior at Binghamton University, currently on a year long break, and working on transferring a 2nd time. During the last semester i attended Binghamton I considered studying design but was not entirely sure what in particular. After some research I decided to study digital design. The curriculum i'd like to have includes artistic story telling, interactive design, and anything connected to designing on a digital medium. I am not interested in traditional art classes but don’t mind taking some.

I've been looking on the web but still don't know what schools have a strong digital design program, are located in New York, and aren’t costly. I think an art school and BFA is out of the question now because the credits required will extend my time in school unnecessarily.
My search may have been unsuccessful because I limited it to public schools, but I’m currently considering private schools too. I’d still like to stick with public ones to keep costs down though. I’d like to hear some opinions on how to find the schools I’m looking for, and if you’ve any recommendations, I’d really appreciate it.

Here are two of the best:
University of Cincinnati’s School of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning.
and
Rochester Institute of Technology.

At RIT you’d have three good programs to choose from, each with a different focus but circling around the same field:

[New Media Design - Design - RIT: College of Imaging Arts & Sciences](http://cias.rit.edu/schools/design/undergraduate-new-media-design-imaging)
[Bachelors in New Media Interactive Development | School of Interactive Games and Media](http://igm.rit.edu/node/142)
[Media Sciences - RIT: College of Imaging Arts & Sciences](http://cias.rit.edu/schools/media-sciences)

From what you’ve said, I’m inferring that you’d need to complete a foundation year if you transferred to most places. Therefore, you should probably look for a school that doesn’t hae foundation. However, schools that lack foundation year are looked down upon.
