Looking for Some Reaches

SAT: 2020 (760 M 610 CR)
SAT II: 660 Math II, 640 US Hist. (retaking)
GPA: 3.4 (UW) 3.8 (W)
Class Rank: 79th percentile
Major: Business or Economics

I'm having a hard time determining exactly what caliber of school to look at for some reaches, and how high to reach. I'm looking for specifically at schools in the northeast. My ideal school would be large and an urban environment. Assuming my extracurriculars, essays, and other intangibles are average for the school I'm applying to, what are some reaches I should consider?

wow that 79th percentile will kill you at most schools. idk look at BU or Northeastern because of SAT

That also means he goes to a competitive school so you never know. He also has good SAT score and a pretty good GPA. I’d say apply to Rutgers, SUNY Binghamton, Penn State, Syracuse, BU, Fordham, BC, UDelaware, ED for NYU?, and maybe Bentley?

Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross

BU BC and Northeastern

jim are you joking? BC is way out of reach and so is NYU. His school has grade inflation or its a small school? Is your class size under 50 dezzo?

I have to believe OP meant just outside the top 20%.

I’d say apply to Rutgers, SUNY Binghamton, Penn State, Syracuse, BU, Fordham, BC, UDelaware, ED for NYU?, and maybe Bentley?

Some of the above are good suggestions. However, can the OP pay full freight or can he qualify for FA or ??? IF he needs FA, nearly all OOS publics won’t work.

Erin’s Dad is right, OP is top 21% another way of saying 79th percentile

I plan on applying for financial aid. I wouldn’t totally dismiss the option of paying full for some of the less expensive OOS publics, but I just don’t see it as the best financial option.

To clarify, I meant top 21% when saying 79th percentile.

OP. Since you intend to apply for FA what is your EFC? Many people are surprised at their EFC which what they consider to be middle class earnings. What is your home state?

^^^

Just so you know…Your OOS publics aren’t that cheap because of the added OOS tuition… Which OOS publics are you considering?

How much have your parents said that they will pay each year towards your education?

COA per year for OOS students, State Universities
