Looking to add that decisive school

The 2.8 is a concern, OP. The SAT CR is bottom 25%. You’re OOS. I don’t think I’d bet the house on it.

@jkeil911‌ my SAT CR is actually the top 73% or so…I think you’re referring to my SAT math? I agree with you, definitely a reach though.

Anyone else have an opinion?

no, I meant your SAT CR at Pitt.

^ jkeil: would the homeless situation (explaining the GPA) be taken into account by Pitt, or not at all?

@jkeil911‌ did you get your information from the Class Profile on their website? Because this is what it says for admitted students…

“Middle 50 percent SAT Math…620-730
Middle 50 percent SAT CR…600-720
Middle 50 percent SAT Writing…590-690”

https://oafa.pitt.edu/who-fits-at-pitt/class-profile/

My math is a little low, but my CR is right in the middle and my writing is well above the 75th percentile. I also have extenuating circumstances as well.

@MYOS1634‌, where do you see OP is homeless?

OP, I used the stats on college data dot com, which appear to be similar. Your math is low enough for Pitt to be concerned, let’s put it that way. I suspect but don’t know for sure that Pitt isn’t interested in your W score (although I think it’s great).

@jkeil911‌ it’s the extenuating circumstance that I am referring to. And why wouldn’t they be interested in my writing score?

Most schools don’t care about the writing score. They have no history with it. I’m having trouble mentally reconciling someone who will be full pay as someone who got evicted from an apt…

can someone help me out, please? where and when did eviction and homeless enter the discussion?

@"Erin’s Dad"‌ @jkeil911‌ it’s here on the OP: <a href=“My (ongoing) College Admissions Story - Admission Stories - College Confidential Forums”>My (ongoing) College Admissions Story - Admission Stories - College Confidential Forums;

I’ll be full pay because my college fund was not impacted during that time.

thanks, OP. I’m glad your family is returning to prosperity. What a trauma!

@Erin’s Dad, is this a great country or what?!

OP, have you considered Howard? It would be less expensive than many other schools.

@jkeil911‌ thanks! It was very traumatic, and the ending was INCREDIBLY relieving. The return to prosperity is slow, however. I have not considered Howard, but I am aware that it is a good school.

Lots of Nigerians!

@jkeil911‌ yes!!! Awesome :)

I’m not a dual citizen btw; I had mistakenly lived under the assumption that I was until my parents informed me a few days ago that I was only a US national. But that’s okay, though :)

Well, alright…Pitt it is, then! :smiley: thanks to everyone who made a suggestion!!
