Hi all,

This is my first post here on CC. I am currently going into my sophomore year at school in the US but am looking to transfer to Concordia either for January or next fall. That being said, I have a few questions about Concordia, but first some background information:

My first semester of my freshman year I went to a private institution and achieved a 3.2GPA. Following my first semester, I transfered to a different school and achieved a 3.3GPA at an easier school. During both semesters I also worked 20+hours per week. In high school I did not do very well. I probably achieved around a 2.9 or so, however my junior and senior year I took honors and AP courses. Moreover, I scored a little under an 1800 on the SATs.

After visiting many schools, I realized that I really liked Concordia. The university as a whole seems to be accredited and strong. The campus buildings are beautiful. And Montreal is a city that I strongly desire to live in.

However I am not sure if my grades are substantial to be accepted into the university. I am interested in Concordia's International Business program primarily, but I do not think I have the overall grades to be accepted. Therefore I am thinking that I will apply to an easier program (perhaps, Economics BA) and try to transfer into the IB program. Does this idea seem plausible?

My first objective is to accepted into the school itself? What do people here think is the best way of being accepted? Just applying to an open program and later transferring into the program major I would like to receive?

Are open programs at Concordia very easy to get into? On my application I am allowed to apply to three programs, should I apply to two open programs and one program that I am actually interested in or should I apply to two programs I am interested in and an open program?

Additionally, I have heard that at McGill it is difficult to achieve high grades as they round down. How does grading work at Concordia University?
