Looking to transfer

I applied and was accepted to the University of Michigan last year, but chose to attend a different school. I'm not happy at that current school nor satisfied with its program for my major and I am hoping to transfer to the U of M as a sophomore. The odds are against me already for that reason--do I stand a chance otherwise?

College GPA: 3.43
College courses: I took an advanced intermediate French class, a freshman seminar on history, calculus I, and intro to computer science last semester. This semester, I have physics, a 200-level American history course, a 200-level intro to American studies course, and calculus II.
College ECs: I'm an active member of a club on campus and occasionally work for the newspaper.
Prospective major: American history

High school GPA: 3.98
High school ranking: graduated second in my class
High school courses: most challenging available
ACT scores: 33 was my best composite
SAT scores: 780 in reading, 680 in math, 800 in writing
High school ECs: extensively involved in vocal music, captain of championship Quiz Bowl team, received all-state and all-league honors for Quiz Bowl, received medal of merit from my US Congressional representative, taught at children's summer day camp, on student council government, received awards of excellence for various subjects at my high school.

I qualify as a Michigan resident.

So, how do my chances look?

Thanks for your advice.

^Hey, Finnlet, I answered your question on the other thread, but now see you’re also a Michigan resident. This I believe will increase your chances significantly, and I know someone who was able to transfer back after a mere year at an LAC. So I like your chances, even though as you’ve likely heard, Michigan most FREQUENTLY rejects sophomore years transfers in favor of junior year transfers. I say go for it anyway ;)

Thanks for your input, kmccrindle. I haven’t been able to acquire a current letter of recommendation (though my high school counselor sent one in, I do believe), but I’m giving it my best shot otherwise. I know that I do have a disadvantage as a would-be sophomore, but I’m hoping you’re right and my previous admit status and the status of the school from which I am transferring will help negate that disadvantage a bit.

Does anyone else have any input?
