The registrar at our son’s current school informed us that our son’s 2018-2019 transcript might be lost. Has anyone dealt with this issue in the past? What was your solution? We have a copy of his progress report from that year, but it is obviously not the official transcript that SAO is requiring.
Hugh. I am sorry. That is very stressful. We had a similar problem last year and the school could not produce any state test scores and only half the grades. Luckily, when they received only partial official records they were willing to accept my personal records. I then gave my records to the school to update their files.
I would ask that a written letter be submitted and then ask to submit your own.
I appreciate your quick reply! It’s reassuring to hear that the schools were willing to accept some personal records and that this situation is not completely unusual. I am relieved that my son’s more recent transcripts for 2019-2020 and the current semester are not missing. However, it is still stressful that one full year is missing. Asking for a written letter is a great suggestion. Thanks again!
I think the school maybe able to print you a record of final Grade for 2018/2019 (Though not in transcript format), what they may not be able to recreate is the teacher comments etc.
In our case our son had left our small charter school and they dumped his electronic file I.e. PowerSchool account and there was nothing but one guy and a badly kept filing cabinet. There was no backup. This was the same school that lost his state test scores two years in a row. I think the polite term is bozo.
