Lots of Questions About Prep School (Andover/Exeter)

Hi all!

I started applying to Andover and Exeter just to keep my options open for my senior year and more questions keep popping up. How will colleges view transferring so late in high school. Additional Information:

-Grades dipped pretty low in 10th grade due to the death of a beloved teacher and lack of resources for dealing with this in school context
-Currently dealing with a few medical issues, including a connective tissue disorder that causes frequent joint dislocation, a possible heart abnormality, asthma, and various allergies, which has caused a lot of absences from school for medical care
-My guidance counselor doesn’t seem to know where I stand in applicant pools for prep school or college, so any advice on that would be awesome.
-I’m pretty concerned about whether attending a new school senior year will have an effect on my college apps

The number of applicants that get accepted to Exeter or Andover as a senior without an athletic hook is so infinitesimally small, that you should assume it to be zero. You would have better luck (although only slightly) applying as a repeat junior.

Just like @skieurope said, the junior and senior spots are usually reserved for recruited athletes, or perhaps a legacy connection that had been studying overseas. Very rarely do they go to anyone else.
