For starters, I have a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA, and a 22 ACT score… I am an early college student, so when I go to college I will transfer in around 70 college credits from a community college. I have a 3.8 GPA at my community college. Colleges look favorably upon early college students so I am told, because they know that we are in a very vigorous program. I am in fact ranked third in my high school class, granted there are only 31 in the class, but there are strict academic standards to remain in the early college program, so being third still means something I would think. I just absolutely cannot get my ACT score up… My scores are mainly bad because of the time constraints during the test… But I am really wanting to attend UNC Chapel Hill, or I would certainly settle for North Carolina State University, studying Management (I want to work in Human Resources)… NC State’s 25th percentile is around a 25, and UNC’s is a 28… Would these schools however look at my scores differently though knowing that I can complete college course work extremely successfully? In fact Chapel Hill’s Junior transfer student ACT score is around a 21-28, but I am told that as an early college student I am still considered a freshmen… Would my application be just completely humorous to their admissions officers? Advice please …
How many times did you take the ACT? Did you study or do practice tests? What about the SAT?
@a20171 I am preparing to take the ACT on June 11, 2016… I have taken 4 practice tests, I have reviewed many grammar concepts, practiced timing on reading, and reviewed incorrect answers for my practice tests. Some of my practice tests I have actually scored lower than a 22, and the 22 was from a day on which I did absolutely no preperation. I plan to take the SAT this fall to see if I favor it. At this point, I really need to get an idea of what schools are idealistic for me to apply to so that I can tour them and really focus my attention (and money) towards them. I have extremely bad testing anxiety, in fact I have had 3 anxiety attacks within the past few days concerning this upcoming ACT, and I really fear that future will be inhibited because of this exam… Greensboro College would give me a full ride as long as I scored a 27 on the ACT, but that does not look realistic. My scores are very discouraging.
