low act but high gpa.

im just new to this site. it seems helpful to get others feedback regarding college. i am a junior in high school and trying to decide which colleges to apply to. i have a 3.4 gpa and maintain a rigorous schedule including a couple ap classes and honors. although, i am anticipating a score of 22 or 23 on my act..based on my practice exams. id love to go to madison or twin cities, although it requires a high act score. none of the schools in wisconsin appeal to me simply because they are not as big as id like or are to competitive. id also love to get out of the midwest and try to enroll in a college in the city, preferably with warm weather! i am strong in language and biology. i am placed high is spanish, and hopefully can incorporate this into a minor. my two main career options are a physician's assistant or a journalist, however, they require a high act score to get into the school of...Oh, i am engaged in a number of extra curriculars and do a wide range of volunteer serice, which i have heard will help my admissions process? please help. i am very lost!

If you want to go to those schools, bring up your gpa and attempt to do better on the ACT. A 3.4 GPA may sound good at your high school, however, colleges these days are extremely competitive and those who are accepted have amazing SAT/ACT scores as well as a high gpa. The average student who is accepted to JMU has a 3.4. Make sure you apply early action to have the greatest chance of being accepted!
