Low AP Lang score?

Soooo I got a 2 in AP English language when I was expecting a 4 or 5(so was my teacher). Did this happen to anyone else? I honestly can't believe it! I've maintained straight As in the class and always got 7-8's out of 9s on my essays. I always did well in MC as well. Will colleges look down on me for my low score? Like if I don't send the score (which I won't) will they put two and two together?

The same sort of thing happened to me on this AP Lang exam. I had a high A in the class both semesters, always got around an 8 or a 9 when my teacher graded my frqs, and usually got around 2-4 MC questions wrong per passage. I thought I did even better than usual on the AP exam, so I was really surprised to find out I got a 3.

From what I have been reading on this website, college admissions do not really look at your AP scores until you are admitted into their college. They only use the scores to determine if you should get credit at their college.

If you do not want colleges to see your score, then do not self report it on your application or send it in. A lot of people do not take the AP exam for their AP class for a multitude of reasons, so colleges will just assume you did not take the exam and will not look down upon you that much for doing so.

If you don’t send it, it’s not going to make any difference for colleges. Even if you did send it, it wouldn’t really matter; they’d rather you not get credit anyway and pay to take their English class. Take AP Lit. and if you get at least a 4, that’ll get you out of freshman English at most colleges. AP Lit. is easier than Lang. for most people.

No actually, I, and several of my friends felt our scores were right as we predicted. It is entirely possible you misread a prompt or some MC.
Take Lit next year if you’re so inclined but don’t dwell on this. You really can’t change it now.

I was planning to get my Lang teacher to write my formal recommendation since I have an A in the class. Now that I got a 2, should I still ask her or should I ask someone else?

I was gonna ask my Lang teacher as well @An1100345‌ but I suggest we don’t. Honestly I’m gonna avoid him all year!

Lmao I’m gonna do the same with my AP chem teacher… she saw me studying hard and thought I’d do well on the test, but getting a 3 would be below her expectations. Not that surprising though, considering I got a “B” in her class

@Marrissa My Lang teacher loved me this year and I’ve doing so well at her class. I am just worried that she won’t write me a good rec since I did so poorly on the exam. :(
