Low GPA, but a few URM'S?

So I know MIT is pretty much for incredible masterminds only, But help me fufill my curiosity:) Could a low GPA, around 3.5, be saved by good SAT's, Being a registered Native american, and majoring in a less popular major? Thanks!

^MIT does not admit to fill out the various majors, unlike other schools.

Being a URM does help, but it tends to be still quite competitive, and at minimum MIT would want to be sure that you could do decently well in the freshman requirements. If your B’s are in humanities, that would be preferrable.

The problem with demonstrating mastery with high test scores is that getting an 800 on the SAT I and SATII’s is ridiculously easy compared to MIT level work.

Good SAT scores and URM status will not make up for a low unweighted GPA. Passion and initiative demonstrated through research, volunteering, and/or advanced courses (and/or whatever else you do for fun) can and will, along with stellar recommendation letters. These things are also required of people who have 4.0s.
