I'm very aware that my GPA is not stellar. It's fine, just not stellar. When I take honors/AP classes, it tends to be that I get B's and they're weighted as A's. So please take that into consideration.

I'm planning to sell myself as a swimmer, singer, and a political freak. I can speak very intelligently about music and politics (and other things, obviously). I think that might help me at Yale, but not really at anywhere else. I really do spend a ton of time singing, my voice is pretty good, and I'm going to send a tape to be judged.

Yale is my first choice, I'm going to apply EA, and my counselor is supposed to shmooze them and tell them I'll be entering their class of 2008 if they give me admission.

Finally, (Swear I'm Done), I'll be interning at the U.S. Attorney's Office and learning about attorneyship, as well as collaborating with Sandra Day O'Connor on a Political Education program to promote Government education in the U.S., and swimming all summer.

Where will I be able to get in?

do you plan on swimming in college? are you recuitable?

i'm recruitable, but there's no way i'm going to swim in college.

^why not? it could be your ticket in.

i absolutely despise the sport as a whole. i would be miserable, and i absolutely would not do it in a million years. The only reason i've not quit is to have something impressive for college. which is silly, but i only realized it like a year ago and I felt like it would be silly to not stick it out until the end of my high school season. so absolutely not.

but do you think Yale will like the fact that I'm a singer? I'm in like three choirs, I'm going to be the vice president of my largest choir, etc. I can write about it in my essay.

Unless your EC is of international interest, you need the stats for schools even to look at them. Statistically, people with your stats have a very low shot at any ivy without a real hook.

Brown University--slight reach
Yale University--reach
Georgetown University--match
Northwestern University--slight reach
UC Berkeley (OOS)--reach
George Washington University--safe match
Cornell University--match to slight reach
Boston University--safe match
UT Austin (OOS)--match
Dartmouth College--reach
Princeton University--reach
UMich- Ann Arbor--safe match to match
University of Washington--safe match
WashU St. Louis--slight reach
Wesleyan--slight reach

I think the best schools you have good chances at are Cornell, Georgetown and Michigan

if you are in state for Cal, then u have a decent shot, other than that, i agree with the above poster.
What state are u from

i'm from Arizona. Does that help?

Yes, Arizona is a slightly under-represented state. It'd be better if you could move to Montana. Isn't that near Arizona? I might have my geography all messed up..

they're pretty much the same, I'm not gonna lie. except for the vast geographical differences. and cultural. and linguistic. and you're an idiot.

Iowa is "under-represented", right?
