Hi ! I have a 2.73 cumulative GPA right now. I am a senior at a nationally recognized and very competitive high school. My ACT was my saving grace for college apps, being that it is a 28, but FIT doesn’t take testing into account in their admissions process. I have many community service hours, around 150, but none fashion related. I do work at a really popular retail store. I’m applying for AMC. My current GPA for this past semester was a 3.33. What are my chances?
I think you still have good chances of getting in. Although GPA is important its not everything. And I find that mostly FIT is a first come first serve basis, since so many students apply. I was always an average student my entire life and I had no problem getting into FIT. Just have a really creative essay and get all your application in ASAP and your chances should still be good. Thank you! when you say first come first serve, you mean if someone submitted their application in October they’d have a better chance than someone in January, or as long as I meet the deadlines I’m ok?
For business majors, GPA is everything. They usually accept students into their business majors with a 3.0 and above. If your current transcripts include your current GPA of 3.33 I would go ahead and send it in. There has been students who applied well after the deadline and still got accepted due to a strong essay and GPA. I know for art majors around a 2.7 with a strong portfolio is fine.
