I got 1850 on sat but a 32 on act. will this low sat score hurt my application even though i have a higher act?

Colleges and universities have a specific preference on which test they look at, though they allow both.

What they will do, is that they will convert both scores to their preference through their own conceived formula.

For instance, in Johns Hopkins case, they will take your ACT score and convert it to a SAT score, which will obviously be higher than your actual SAT score. Thus, they will consider that formulated ACT/SAT score.

Ultimately, it won't hurt you. Hope this helps.

Well, if you have to send SAT II scores, they'll see your SAT I score anyway. But either way, they take the highest score, so the 1850 won't be considered.

Same thing happened to me. I had a 1930 SAT and 33 ACT. I just sent my ACT score and with just that was able to get into the college I wanted.
