What’s the lowest SAT Score that NCSU will accept/has accepted?
400 (combined math and verbal only)if your gpa is 3.55 or above and you are on an athletic scholarship.
Neal, don’t know if you are joking about the 400 score, but 470 has definitely happened.
It would vary, which college/major you are applying?
I’m applying for Computer Science.
tlbodrick, I don’t think anyone can answer your question definitively, unless they are an insider in the Admissions dept.
I will say however, if you are applying 1st choice Computer Science, then your SAT Math score must show solid math aptitude. I think Math is weighted pretty heavily. Generally, Admissions knows that a decent SAT Math score is a good predictor of success or not in the College of Engineering.
SAT Verbal may be a another matter. My son got accepted into Freshman Computer Science. His Critical Reading and Writing were not great (each upper 500’s), but his Math was pretty good (low 700’s). That tells me the College of Engineering may overlook a lower Reading/Writing score, if ones Math score compensates somewhat for that. BTW, he made a “B” in Freshman English, so it can be done even if your SAT was low. Good Luck!
@klinger I would consider a math SAT score in the low 700s to be more than “pretty good.” That is a better score than at least 95% of the test takers. Your son should be very proud.
hey guys, im international but my sat score is
math 720, CR-540, writing- 540
i have played badminton for the state.
also i have a predicted 32 out of 45 in IB…do you think the low SAT score will matter?
also does my 30 in ACT make up for that in any way?
With a math of 720, and 30 on ACT I would say you have a good chance at acceptance into CS. If not initially, maybe later in the Spring if you show good senior year grades in English.
