How are there people who score <1800 on the SAT at Brown? I am one of those people and I would love to know how others have received admission to Brown.
The majority of them were most likely recruited athletes, URMs, or had another “hook.” It’s possible, but not very likely.

In addition to URM/recruited athlete, I’d also guess they might fall into one or more of the following categories:
-Documented learning disability that is particularly an issue for SAT but still have good GPA
-First generation college student
-Not of even remotely average income/wealth (either their family is donating >10million dollars to Brown or they come from absolute destitution)
Occasionally there are some first gen low income students that stand out in another way. There have been some reported here and I know of others personally.
