Low SAT scores for for UCB????

<p>I am an immigrant from China. I started in somophore year.
Low SAT score is really a big deal for new immigrants? </p>

<p>1st : CR 460
W 590
MATH 780 (Total 1830)
2nd: CR 440
W 500
MATH 800 (Total 1740)</p>

<p>planning to take it again in Dec. + TOEFL in Dec, too. </p>

<p>Because English is not my first language, so will it really affect my chance if i have low CR scores? </p>

<p>PS: I know a guy from China, too. He only had 1780 SAT I score. But he got in Caltech, UCB, and UCLA.</p>

<p>well... yes it is a pretty big factor, even though youre an immigrant, it doesnt exempt you from being good at english</p>

<p>but whats your gpa/courses/etc? cus those matter too. like if english is your only downfall, maybe youll have a better chance to get in</p>

<p>berkeley is extremely competitive and tough to get in</p>

<p>The person you know with a 1780 probably had many other things going for him. There aren't many people in the US who get into Berkeley/UCLA/Caltech with such an SAT score, much less internationals.</p>
