I have a 750 Math but only 640 in US History.

I have December left to re-take as my final chance but I don't really have an subjects that I'm good at. What should I do? I'm trying to apply to ivy-league tier schools.

Since you already have a baseline score in US History and an idea about what is covered / required on the exam I would get a good review book and possibly a tutor and study like crazy for the next few weeks. Maybe ask your history teacher about good reference material to prepare for the exam.

It’s hard to advise you without knowing what the rest of your application looks like. If everything else is strong, I wouldn’t beat yourself up over the 640. Move on.

I think it’s a waste of time, energy and money to try to cram for the US History test in hopes of beating 640 by a lot, and even 100 extra points on a subject test isn’t going to matter much in the total picture…

My SAT I score is 2140. I don’t think it really makes it for it. Although I got a 4 on AP US History.

Well, it seems to me that a 2140 is a little too low for “ivy-league tier schools.” Even an 800 on a subject test won’t make up for it. So, if you’re only retaking this test in order to increase your chances at Ivy League schools, I think it’s a waste of time and money. A high subject test score won’t compensate for a low SAT, and you’ll need something else, like outstanding ECs or an amazing essay, to have a realistic chance at top-tier schools.

Qualifying this to start with, I am an athlete.

Some schools require subject tests for admissions only. Like you just have to take them because you have to. I bombed mine. (significantly less than 600 in all three). None of the admissions for schools who were recruiting me cared at all (1 Ivy, 3 nescacs, 2 elite CA schools), no one. My SAT and ACT scores, though, did count. (AP scores, again no. No one cared.)

Did you just not send your scores if they didn’t ask? Or did you just send them in even though you bombed them?
