Low stats, no hook in high school --> should I retake SAT/ACT for transfer to a top college?

UW GPA: 3.31 (was in IB Diploma though: went downhill throughout high school until senior year where I’ve been getting As and Bs)

SAT I: 1890 (first time), 1940 (second time, 660 R 620 M 660 W)

SAT II: never took this…should I?

So, if you have relatively low stats for a top college and no hook either…is it worth retaking SAT I or even any SAT subject tests? By top college, I’m thinking top 30 schools (both research unis and LACs; UCs, Carnegie Mellon, Pomona, Wesleyan, Johns Hopkins, Emory, maybe some Ivies?) Or should I just focus on my GPA, internships, recommendation letters, etc.?

California UC’s only accept Junior level transfers and do not consider your HS GPA or test scores. Your chance for transfer will depend upon your college GPA and if you have completed all required transferable classes.

There’s probably a reason if both your GPA and test scores are low. It’s not like your gonna have perfect GPA and test scores now. You shouldn’t aim so high.

@Gumbymom Thanks! I’m a high school senior now but I am planning on transferring for my junior year of college.

@dnstudent26 Honestly, it’s because I was a total slacker in high school. But I’ve been getting myself together and this potential transfer is what’s motivating me to do well in college.

Top schools are just as selective for transfers, if not even more so. If you didn’t love your safety during your first round of applications, make sure you love your safety this time.
