Lowe's Scholarship 2011

S didn’t get it. Congrats and best of luck to the semi-finalists. And thanks to Jasonvdm and jcmom18 for letting me know to expect an email either way.

My daughter didn’t get it either. I wonder what they were looking for.

I was wondering the same thing. Do they judge based on hours or type of activity? Between this and the Best Buy it was a bit of a let down.

Congrats to all those who advanced to semi-finalist!! Wish you all best of luck in the next stage.

Forgot to say: congrat to all who made semifinalist and good luck. My daughter is a coca-cola scholar finalist and received the Best Buy scholarship (and some small local scholarships). So, overall it’s not too bad.

She didn’t get any of the need-based scholarships. Probably because both parents work (probably they think we make too much money, but I don’t think we do). But Lowe’s is not a need-based scholarship. I see that there are a lot of students who have great academic resume and have a lot of activities/volunteer hours. Congrat to all.

Ddint get any email. Is there another login page where I can find out if i made it?

Semi-finalist! Congrats to all who finally heard the good news today!

I havent gotten an email. Where else can I find semifinalist info?

Well here we go again! A little hope happily! I was a Coca Cola Semi Finalist but not a finalist…I am a Sam Walton Semi Finalist yay! and now a Lowes semi finalist!

I was not selected from Best Buy or KFC…was a State Finalist for Prudential Spirit of the Community but no $$ and being from Texas my Elks MVS was epic fail at the Lodge I turned mine into too…like others I have seen on here.

There are three more I know my counselor mentioned that my school selected my applications to advance but you never know how that will turn out but at least I am honored. HOWEVER I need some monetary awards PLEASE!!! so far nothin, nada zilch!

Good Luck to everyone…persianprincess I am interested in how you were able to do your community service labwork on prostate cancer or something like that my youngest brother is in 8 th grade and wants to be a doctor and he needs to start now as my family has learned the sooner the better.

I havent gotten an email. Where else can I find semifinalist info?Should I call? can someone please out on here what the email said.

@Aggies2011, Congrats! I have my fingers crossed for you. In regards to your question, it wasn’t necessarily “community service”. I participated in a research internship at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. There are many internships your brother can apply to next year that involves scientific research. Maybe even try to get your brother hooked up with a doctor to shadow. I did that last summer and was even able to participate in research with him. Good luck!

@akapoben, the email said:
I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected as a semi-finalist in the competition for the Lowe’s Community Scholarships. Being selected as a semi-finalist does not necessarily mean that you will receive an award. Your application has been chosen for further consideration for a scholarship based on the receipt of all required semi finalist materials by April 7, 2011.

Try emailing info@applyists.com for your question…

Congrats to all semi-finalists! My son did not get this one as well. He has really good stats also… 4.787 weighted GPA, Pres and officer in clubs, lots of community service, peer math tutor, Eagle Scout with a great project, lots of volunteer projects in his community, financial need, don’t know why he is striking out so much. If these scholarship really do use an algorithim (spelling?) to select the first round I wish that they would require essays only for semi-finalists. My poor son has had to write so many scholarship essays - most of them have now turned out to be a waste of time that he could have spent on school work. Oh well maybe something will still pan out. He has a few to hear back on. He is a semi only for Sam Walton and a ton of people are a semi for that so not sure how that will go - sigh… Glad some people got good news today. My son’s turn will come sometime I am sure :)

Semi-Finalist!

How many semifinalists are there? How many of these become winners?

Didn’t get it. I don’t think I’ll get any national scholarship.

semifinalist!

if you did not get an email today then check your spam folder- that’s where my sons was.

My DD did not get this one but congrats to those that did
Take Care,
Lisa

I’m usually a semifinalist for scholarships, yet for this one I wasn’t… I’m actually pretty disappointed not to have gone to the next level… :/
