Lowe's Scholarship 2011

Have any of you checked to see if your submissions are confirmed? Mine show submitted on March 25 but not verified. We FAXED the transcripts that day with the cover page but also submitted the counselor/school info. online. I’m concerned because they are in two places. I wrote the scholarship administrator an email inquiring to make sure both end up together, but no reply to my questions.

This same administrator never showed my RMHC as “received” and they were snail mailed with delivery confirmation. I don’t have a lot of faith in this organization. Seems less organized than the organization handling some of the other majors…

I emailed the organization and they said that they had verified both my high school transcript and my SAT/ACT scores. Did you email info@applyists.com?

wait…I though we had to upload both files on that ISTS website (which I hate). My files don’t seem to load and I can’t get both my transcript and SAT/ACT all in one file. We can fax them!?

I tried to email them once and they said 48 hours for it to be posted once it was faxed. I faxed on the 27th and it still sqys it has not been recieved. I emailed and still no reply! I wonder if I should upload it too…or would that be overkill.

is this for seniors? im graduating HS in 2012. soooo would i apply next year?

Okay. Ours were sent the 25th of March. I had read where they would be verified in 5-7 days. My concern was that while part DID submit, I didn’t have transcript/scores on ONE document, as required. In that situation, there is a FAX cover letter that you print, then FAX them, which I also did the first day. SO, school/counselor info. submitted online, other stuff faxed. When things weren’t verified at the seven day mark, I figured out how to make everyone one file to send, and though I put it in the RIGHT kind of format, it kept wanting to put it in a DOC format when uploaded, and that is not an accepted format.

I wrote the scholarship admin. that week just to make sure I had done what was required. No response. Wrote them again yesterday. No response.

HOWEVER, today every thing is showing complete and verified.

I’m just a little leery of THIS scholarship administrator. The RMHC scholarship was started online but ended up having to mail it. I have confirmation from the USPS, but NEVER from the administrator. It just shows not completed…but it WAS completed in the US Mail. Haven’t had this issue with the other major scholarship service we’re working with at this time.

I cannot even imagine how much work they have going on right now though, so I want to give them all the benefit of the doubt. Guess it IS their job though. : )

Saytruewords, I did the same thing. SAT scores and transcript are not all in one file so I uploaded one and faxed the other with the cover page. However, like everyone else said…it’s not verified.

How did you upload yours all in one file? What software/website/etc did you use and what format was it in?

Getting everything into one file was annoying, I scanned my transcript and SAT/ACT scores into a Word document and then used the “snip” application on Windows 7 to put it into Paint, which I then saved as a jpeg and uploaded. This, of course, caused all the numbers and letters to become rather blurred, but I emailed them and they said it was fine and had been verified.

Does anyone know when finalists are notified of whether they got the scholarship or not?

I hear what you are saying, Lisa–that’s really unfortunate. Just a glimmer of hope for the future. I had somewhat the same less-than-encouraging start w/the Elks scholarship process. I never heard from the local lodge, or the district, or the state–but received an email on Feb 28th that I was a national finalist and would receive a minimum of $4,000.
Our local lodge does not give anything add’l, that is up to each lodge, district, and state from what I have learned from others that are blogging.

Good luck with all your other scholarship efforts and never let that “transplant” stuff get to you!

thanks charles…
After DD applying to now 59 scholarships we are about to give up…
Instead we have now pleaded to the college for more help or she can’t go there!
Take Care,
Lisa

when will we find out if we’re finalists?

^It was around May 10 last year. So about two more weeks.

Does anyone know the course of the Lowe’s scholarship after the semi-finalist stage? Will there be finalists and then award winners…or will the finalists be the award winners? I am a semi-finalist anxiously awaiting news.

Woo hoo! The news is coming down the pike today!

Email came and after reading the first sentence I knew…I did not get it…bummed again!

Hey I got it. Does anyone know how to accept it? (No “Acceptance” button online)

These sites are like that. The acceptance button will show eventually.

Yay I got it! Congrats to everyone who made it. :)

won it =] 10 char

Last year they awarded 140 scholarships. Do you know if this was true of this year’s recipients? How do you all feel about the publicity? (And what are you doing about it?) Are most of you seeking outside scholarships to supplement university offered scholarships? Or do most of you need the outside only? Inside only? Do you believe that your college will apply these scholarships in other areas if you have full tuition but federal aid? Or will some of your federal aid be reduced?
