What is the lowest GPA you know of that has been accepted by a UC school, and what was the major?

i think grimes got into ucsd with a 3.01 but he tag’d

I thought Grimes was a lady?
Also, I know someone who got into a UC with a 2.75 in a major that wasn’t impacted.

Also, nujabes is AWESOME.

A lady? hahaha. Negative.

But yeah, 3.01 TAG to UCSD.

grimes isn’t a lady… he’s all woman! ahah jk.

:D

10chararrrr

Hahahaha.

My major isn’t impacted… I don’t want to give up yet!!! There is a slightly slight chance, lol. I know!! I can feel it.

These numbers are from two years ago (2009-2010 academic year acceptances), they don’t specify how many of the denials were not eligible to transfer, they don’t specify major (whether impacted or not), and how many were admitted by special circumstances (such as testing), but they’re still interesting to look at. You can add other items for different information to show up in the table. I only did a basic one (all terms and CCC transfers). It’ll be interesting to see what numbers show up on the tables for last year and the current transfer acceptance year.

NOTE: Combined GPA ranges were what the table showed as combined. Also, please forgive any typos. I double checked what I typed, but I am human ;). It’s much easier to see the results if you go to the statfinder application yourself and look at these on the table created there.

^ wow there were people who got into UCB/UCLA with below a 2.4???

^^ Their daddy won an election somewhere and/or is royalty in the middle east.

I can’t believe 635 people actually applied to UCLA with 2.4-2.59 lol.

i got into UCSD with a 3.1 gpa

high five! :D

Wow. Surprised to see these numbers. I’m dying to know what their circumstances were.

The ones that make me more than a little curious are the below 2.4 GPA admits since 2.4 is the minimum GPA for California resident junior-level transfers (2.8 for non-resident transfers).

My first thought is admission by exception. Those had to be some seriously high test scores, though, to get that low of a GPA overlooked (especially being below the minimum).

I’ve heard many low GPA’s admitted are military.

Wow, that’s wow!

Thanks Kender!
I guess I could still get in. =/

^^ shyhea mang

MARINE CORPS, OOOOORRAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!

I think it is more likely that they are recruited athletes who spent their first two years at a CCC. Major college football programs like Cal and UCLA frequently recruit outstanding JC players to fill gaps in their rosters with experienced players rather than use freshmen. Winning a Pac-10 championship and getting invited to a major bowl game brings in millions of dollars in additional revenue to a school and if there is a player on a JC team that can help them achieve that a little thing like a GPA below 2.4 is not going to stop Cal or UCLA from admitting him.

I knew I should have tried out for football. Damn.
