<p>lawl imagine a double legacy, black/hispanic, recruited athlete at harvard. You could get in anywhere.</p>

<p>Yeah they do since they are such a minority...who wouldn't want some diversity ehh?</p>
<p>I know a white (as in, not very diverse...so that's not the reason) kid who had like a 2.9uw/3.7w and is now at harvard...of course that kid had a hell of a lot of national recognition stuff</p>
<p>The Common Data Set figures (which aren't complete for all colleges you might want to check) show that a lot of really good colleges admit a lot of students with grade averages below 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, probably because not all high schools have the same grading standards and some students are outstanding in ways other than their high school grades, or challenged themselves with especially tough courses while of high school age. And, yes, some of those colleges report nontrivial numbers of admitted students with grade averages below 3.0, although that starts to get awfully chancy.</p>
