Lowest GPA

What is the lowest gpa you guys think I could get into UCLA with, with a 2400 sat?

SAT isn't everything. My friend who has a 2200 on the SAT got rejecte to both UCLA and Berkeley. I believe she has a 4.1 fully weighted GPA. Her unweighted GPA is not that high, which probably means her UC GPA isn't that high. Just try your best.

Personally, I don't think GPA and SAT factor in that much. A lot weigh on your essays and extracurricular activities (because my GPA and SATs weren't exactly on par, but I made it in.)

Surely, they're probably not going to admit a 2.8 GPA/2400 SAT.
But if I were to estimate, I say at least a 3.5 would do.

First of all, if you got a 2400 on the SAT...WOW. Congratulations.

But if that's what you're shooting for, then realize this: It will be nearly impossible for you to do so.

With that said, I think you should probably not dip below a 3.7 UCGPA with a 2400, or any high score. When many colleges see an applicant with high standardized test scores and low GPA, they tend to view the applicant as lazy, underreaching their potential. UCLA seems to put a larger weight on GPA than test scores as well.

But I really believe that a killer essay can push ANY applicant over the top. Especially one with a 2400 on the SAT.

I think the lowest UC GPA you can get into UCLA with, along with a 2400 SAT I, is 3.30.

Guys, don't stress way to much about the SAT. If you are a well rounded student in your extracurriculars, volunteering, and school activities, as well as have really well written essays about what you like to do, you will most certainly be accepted at UCLA. I got a 1650 on the SAT and a 25 on the ACT (when converted to an SAT score, it was a 1750) and I was accepted at UCLA for this fall 2006. I had really good EC'S (marching band, music, hospital volunteerting, church stuff etc) and my essays were really good. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

Oh yeah, my UC GPA was 3.7. =)

Brassman - wow, in the previous years, I projected UCLA as "grades and scores matter the most. With a GPA less than 3.3, they would just toss out anybody's app." you give me courage! thanks!

do you mind if I ask you, but what did you do for ECs?

Hey kevster! I'm glad I can give you courage! Hey, yeah, so, ok here's the low down. All of my extracurriculars are not something I did for a year or less. I was dedicated to all of my activities for at least 2 years. See, UCLA is looking for commitment to whatever you like to do. It shows that you are a responsible and active student. That is one thing students forget who apply to UCLA, or any college for that matter. Commitment is key; and showing leadership skills in those activities sure does help a lot (it shows you are involved and will be involved at UCLA ((which is what they want)) (((UCLA doesn't want a whole undergrad class of bookworms))) hehe). Here are my EC'S throughout high school:
Marching band (section leader)- 4 years
Wind Ensemble- 2 years
Hospital Volunteer- 4 years
Church Volunteer- 6 years
Self Employed Business- 2 years
Swim Team- 3 years
High school musical (orchestra and acting)- 4 years
LAUSD honor band- 4 years

My passion was music. Obviously, UCLA liked what I've done musically and thought it was time to add a musician to the class of 2010 =). Hope this helps. If you need more or, if i was unclear (lol), let me know!

Brassman - wow impressive. Congrats to your acceptance to UCLA! Your parents must be proud of you! My parents wish I could get into UCLA, and I do too! Well, you kind of look like me I THINK. Still, you're way more talented than me. Your musical passion and athletic abilities kickass. For instrument, I play the violin. I am starting to volunteer at church too. Im going to apply for the local hospital this november. Im not going to pre med or something, just I love helping. LOL. Wow, I think what got you to UCLA is passion and commitment. There's music for you~! I dunno what's mine. hahah. I do cooking, for right now.
(Hehe i gave my counselor a Peruvian traditional dish, and she loved it! Hope that helps demonstrate my passion to cooking.)

What is self employed business? did you start your own website business or start selling something?

Clearly I can see your passion towards music got you in. Ugh, dunno how UCLA will see me in 2 years with such normal stats. And what I most admire about you is that you're different! Probably you haven't done any trips to central america or the middle east to help people in need or something?! If you had posted your stats, maybe the majority would have told you "Super Reach," but it turns out to be the other way!

Well, congrats again brassman! Be sure to visit the Getty Museum whenever your brain is burning. The place is uber-sweet.

Did you take any summer school, internships, or work at any store? How did you spend your summer vacations?

(PS Sorry for being so picky. At least I'm interested on what you did and your talents! LOL)
