Lowest SAT score you know of...

Okay guys & gals-

Little Miss "I have to go to Miami" just got her first SAT scores back and I don't have any clue whether they are "good enough" or not. I am not going to post them here, because she would kill me. However, I am wondering if any of you current students know MU students who got in with a low score and what would be a low score?

Math is her issue. She did fine on CR, EXCELLENT on Writing, but Math, ewwwww, bummer. The website(MU's) has what appears to be the range from the "old" SAT on the student profile, so I just don't really know what to think. She is going to take the ACT as well, so maybe she will do better there, and her GC says her ECs and Leadership are off the charts(she is one of those kids that juggles a LOT, yet excels at it all - where did she come from?) and keeps reassuring me (I do some work at the school so I have a chance to talk to him privately so I don't freak out my D, I don't want her to know I am so concerned).

She wants to major in the visual arts, is taking a heavy college prep curriculum and is a mostly A student in everything except Math, but the way her school weights some classes (IB & AP) and not others (honors are not), her grade point is just under stellar all because of math!!! She gets extra help, sees tutors, studies, but is all over with it; and now this test.

Okay, I am ranting, I realize this, but who else do I have to rant to??? LOL :)
Can anyone else reassure me???

i know someone who got a 20 on the ACT i believe-- i dont think she took SAT... (somewhere around there) however, she had around a 3.9 gpa and her sister went to MU. GREAT EXTRACURICULARS and hard worker

Everything I read (with the exception of the 2400 scorers) seems to indicate that students usually do better on one test or the other. Maybe when D takes ACT she will do better on that. She already re-took the SAT this past Saturday but there were all kinds of problems with the test center and it had to be pretty un-nerving, not the best environment for testing.

Is your daughter a junior? If she is, then maybe have her take the SAT at the end of the year (June) or even at the very beginning of senior year (Sept) after doing some prep. The difference between my PSAT score and my SAT score that June (+ my Writing SAT II score for comparison to the 2400 scale) was 140 points. I personally thought the ACT was a lot easier, but if you're slow at reading or doing calculations or can't intrepret graphs/data, then the SAT would be better.

The lowest ACT score I've ever heard of at Miami was a 23, but my perspective is also a little skewed.

Believersmom...Your PM box is full. I tried to send a message, but no luck.

Sorry, good to go now...

You guys are great! Thank you for all the encouragement.
