Loyola it is!

Well, we went to the open house on Saturday and my d was very impressed with the tour of the campus this time. She did not feel that it was too small. Actually, our tour guide was great. She took us all throughout the campus and over the bridge and took us to all the dorms where Primo's is located. So D felt that the college was plenty big.

And during the dorm tour, the girls seemed really excited to be there and were very happy to show us their rooms. I guess after she thought about it, she thinks that now a smaller college would actually be better for her.

So we are mailing our deposit first thing tomorrow and she can finally put her mind at ease. I think she made the right choice. I think my d will do extremely well at Loyola. I think the faculty and administration at Loyola will make sure that she doesn't fall thru the cracks like she may have at some of her bigger college choices (PSU, UM-CP, Drexel).

I am happy with her decision. Good Luck to everyone!

Congratulations! I am happy to hear that she chose Loyola as a parent whose daughter will be in the class of 2010. Most of the people we talked to chose Loyola by the end of the day and some wrote their checks at lunch. Was your tourguide a swimmer named Lindsay because there was a girl in our group who was considering PSU also?

She was a swimmer and she lived at Hammerland House. Were you in the same tour group?

Yes we were in the same group. I wore a dark jacket with kelley Racing and we talked frequently throughout the tour. I remember you saying that your daughter was considering PSU. My daughter was blonde with glasses.

My daughter is very happy about choosing Loyola and wants to live in Hopkins Hall which was the first dorm we went into after we crossed the Bridge. She didn't like Hammerman that much. We left the tour after that because that is all she wanted to see. We had already seen Primo's and the Newman Towers last year. We stopped by the Bookstore and left. Too bad the weather was so bad. Where are you guys from? We live near White Marsh, MD which is about 30-40 minutes from Loyola.

What a coincidence! I think I remember you guys. My d had a blue hoodie on and she was with me, my H, and son. I think I was talking to you guys when we were walking thru the tour of the main building.

We are from Barrington, NJ which is like 5 minutes from Philadelphia (like 90 minutes from Loyola).

Fortunately, we did the entire tour which went until like after 3:00, and it never rained. Yes, our group got quite small by the end ... lol

My daughter liked all the freshman dorms on that one side. I actually thought the dorms on the other side of the bridge were nicer, but she wants to be in the "thick" of things ... lol

I remember you and your family. You are exactly who I thought you were. Isn't it strange that we wound up in the same tour group and we did talk along the tour. My daughter is shy and studious(the opposite of me, LOL) and she liked the "quiet" dorm. I think your daughter will find both sides of campus to be in the "thick" of things because Freshman are about equally split on both sides of campus. Primos also is open for longer hours. Good luck and maybe we will see you at Orientation. My email is BRavens@aol.com. By the way did you make it to Drexel or did you stop after the Loyola day?

Yes, we did go to Drexel on Sunday and I am so glad we did because it was in direct contrast to what we saw at Loyola.

The Drexel Open House was great - very informative. The Biology Dept Head spoke to the students and gave them a great outline of everything that they could expect if they attended Drexel.

But when we did the campus tour, the students at the college were so serious and unhappy looking that my D took notice big time. The first thing that she said after the Drexel tour was that the Loyola students looked happy and glad to be at Loyola but the Drexel students did not look happy at all.

And there wasn't much school spirit in the dorms or in the student buildings and she also noticed that.

So I think I am glad we did the two college back to back since it gave my D a great chance to really compare the two colleges and make a final choice on where she could see herself for the next four years.

And she choose Loyola without a doubt! lol

Just wondering if you have gone to the Summer Orientation yet? If so what was it like and did you enjoy it? We are going on the 13th and 14th.
