Loyola Maryland Merit Scholarship

Would you be willing to give your stats- SAT’s, rank, GPA? Trying to figure out my chances. Thanks.

@3mdboys: Congrats! =)

egl1770 - It is my son who qualified, he has 3.8/4.3, NOT top 10%, in 11th % of class, 6 AP’s before this year w 5’s on AP exams, 5 AP’s this year, captain of varsity teams 7 seasons, editor in chief of newspaper, senior class officer, very involved in working with underprivileged and homeless, great letters of recc and good essays. Oh, 2160 SAT’s, NMSQT commended.

Congrats! He is well-deserving. I appreciate the info. It helps. THANKS!

Received $18,750 today as well. Very happy. Hope lots of others got good news.

Just wondering what state you are from? ALso do you mind providing your stats?

My son just received his letter with $18,750 also. We are in New York .Very happy with award.

Nothing here in FL. :frowning: In fact, it’s kind of strange…we didn’t get any mail of any kind today-not even a sale advertisement.

$18,750 per year as well. Live in NJ.

SAT: 770 CR 700 M 710 WR
GPA: 3.9 UW 98.43/100 W
Rank: Top 5%

To kel4636,
I’m a female from NJ. GPA= 5.1 (w), class rank= 10/426. SAT= 2160, SAT II Subj. Tests in History=730, in Lit.=710, 5’s on AP Comp. and US Hist. tests. I’m taking 3 more AP’s this year. My school only offers 9 total AP classes. Accepted to Loyola Honors Program. President of NHS, Interact Club, History Club, Relay for Life Team Captain, Advanced Leader in Peer Leadership…several more, golf captain 4 years and MVP 2 years so far- not playing in college. Many awards (writing and history), extra-curriculars, like everybody else. Hope that helps. I wonder what stats $25,000 recipients have? Congrats to them and everyone!

$18K - almost 19K is huge! I know someone who got $3K merit last year; not much on such a big ticket…

12,500 it helps. Does anyone know when they release need based? It puts Loyola in the running, but I will be the second in college so I know things are tight for my parents right now. Brother is currently Freshman at Cornell. Two schools a little better in merit for me but I would rather go to Loyola. We will see.

$18,750, the letter came today. It really means there’s a chance of Loyola happening for me…of course, it all depends on the rest of financial aid and other schools…

Just copy and pasted from another thread:
GPA (weighted): 101
GPA (unweighted): 95.4
SAT: 2130 (670 CR, 710 M, 750 W)
Unranked
5 APs

Female from public high school, central Jersey

@Whale: The letter said need based aid should be sent by March 15.

I got caught up in the award I didn’t fully read the letter. You are absolutely correct. Thanks for the info. Hopefully we will all get more good news.

so if we didn’t get a letter yet we probably aren’t getting any merit aid, correct? lol

Has anyone from Chicago received a merit scholarship letter? Still nothing as of today’s mail.

We are in PA and my son did not hear yet. His stats are pretty good and he received merit scholarships from two other schools so we are hoping. Anyone from PA get their package for merit money?

From Philly, PA suburbs…Daughter has not received letter as of yesterday. Received merit from 2 other Jesuits…St Joe’s and Scranton. Hopefully today is the day.

Still nothing here in MA, I would think the mail would be here by now. Disappointing, DS received decent merit from St Joe’s and was hoping for something from Loyola. Well, by the end of March/early April we’ll have need based aid packages and will have re-visited schools so we can make a final decision.

Also in MA, still nothing :frowning: The mailman came and left, not a single thing!
I also received merit awards from similar schools. I’m really hoping to get a little money from Loyola, as it is one of my top choices!
Also, Thanks for providing your stats guys, it helps alot!
