Is anyone else on here waiting to hear about scholarships at Loyola? I spoke with someone in financial aid Friday and he told me we should receive the letter Wednesday if we will be getting one. I am not good at this waiting game...I can't wait until we have all the information and can make a decision.

Also waiting but not really expecting anything. Financial aid info is coming March 15.

Loyola is a terrific university. While the waiting game is always terrible, at least you know that you were accepted! Our son attends Loyola, in his freshman year. I can not say enough about the college. He is so happy at Loyola. Loves his professors, classes, friends, roommate, suitemates, dormmates, you name it. He even LOVES going to Mass on Sunday evenings, and he was never one to care to go to Mass. The Loyola Men’s Basketball team taking first place status last Friday night, was icing on the cake. It’s six hours away from home, and he was reluctant about going that far, but he is so happy with his decision. It’s the perfect fit! Good luck!

Warrior123,
Thanks for sharing your view (and your son’s view) of Loyola. It’s always great when a kid finds a good fit in a college. My daughter is going to visit at the end of this week. My main concerns are the social life (bar school reputation) and the cost of meals. The school is actually closer to home than her other choices, so that is good in my opinion.

We had the same concerns last year at this time. The food is working out just fine. Our son loves the social scene. It seems most students balance the social life and academics very well. Dorm life is terrific, easy to go to bed at a decent hour during the week, without a dorm full of revelers, but weekends come alive with fun things to do on campus but many go out to local places on weekends. He’s traveled twice to DC on weekends, to watch a concert and see a Nuggets game. He’s been to two Orioles games, one when his Red Sox were supposed to win the AL pennant, only to sit through a rain delay and watch them lose. He’s seen Kanye West and JayZee in concert at the Raven’s stadium. The students seem to live responsibly, watch out for each other, and enjoy life to it’s fullest. He has only missed two classes (due to strep throat and the medical staff suggesting he lay low to prevent it from spreading), and he enjoys attending class and striving to do his best. He bragged about being in reserved front row seats at Mass last week (reward from attending a retreat that he was lukewarm about attending, but was glad in the end that he did). Mass was always optional in our household and he had no interest in Mass when he lived at home. He has close friends from many religious denominations, so don’t worry about the Catholicism being uncomfortably strong (it is not).

It’s a terrific setting for students who take academics seriously, and also enjoy the lighter side of life. We are very impressed with Loyola and I think you will be too when you take a closer look.

FYI, our son’s top pick was Villanova, until he took his first on campus look at Loyola after getting accepted, and then Loyola tied for first. He was waitlisted at Villanova and we are convinced fate put him on the Evergreen campus, to meet life long friends and terrific professors who enjoy seeing their students work hard to succeed.

Enjoy your visit!

Did anyone hear anything today about scholarships? We didn’t. :(

We did not hear anything either…Does anyone know if the notification is by mail or email? Thanks…

haha good no one else heard anything :)wheww relief- hahha no pressure or anything but if i don’t get a scholarship (even w/ financial aid) there’s no freaking way i’m affording this school

I was expecting to hear today, too. I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging, but I was surprised/nervous when I didn’t hear anything because I’ve gotten decent amounts of money to a few really competitive schools. I checked online and there’s not anything on there either.

On the accepted students parent page it states that scholarship awards are being mailed Feb. 15. hopefully we will all get something by the weekend!!!

I thought they said they would arrive yesterday, but I guess they really wouldn’t know how long it takes to get through the mail. Nothing here yet, but we’re hoping soon, since we live in Maryland.

I had contacted my admissions counselor & he said that they were mailed on Tuesday and there was a delay since they got more money for scholarships. Not to sound conceited, but I’m kind of expecting a scholarship. I live in NY so I’m hoping I’ll get them in the mail on Friday!

Lauren1223, Wednesday was the 15th which should have been the mailing day. You are saying they were delayed and not mailing until Tuesday, so I assume you mean Tuesday the 21st they will be mailed? If it was last Tuesday (the 14th), it wouldn’t have been a delay. I’m asking because we got our mail already today and didn’t get anything from Loyola, so I’m still hopeful?

Nothing here today either. :(

We got the letter today in Maryland. S was offered 25,000/ year. While that is a very generous offer, we were really hoping for the Knott complete tuition scholarship. He’s been offered a complete ride at a public school and complete tuition at another LAC, but Loyola is one of his top choices. Decisions, decisions…Still waiting on another scholarship letter from another school. This is driving me nuts, and I have five more after this kid!

nothing in the mail on Long Island today

nothing in boston

scavena, What I meant is that if they stuck to their original schedule, we would have gotten our scholarship info in the mail on or before the 15th. They mailed it out on Tuesday the 14th, therefore we will get our notification in the mail after the 15th.
By the way- I received mine in the mail (Long Island) and I got a $25,000 presidential scholarship!

got mine! $18,750/yr and overjoyed! from long island ny :D

would you mind posting gpa, sat scores, etc?
